LSU stomps opponent 56-0, all everyone can do is whine about a TD celebration.

What gives? It's not just the Rant, it's local and national media, other LSU and SEC websites, it's all over the place. This was a great win and it lampshades a really bright future for the program, with all of our spectacular freshmen stepping up and showing not only their incredible talent but their insurmountable motivation. Last year a more experienced, veteran team struggled to put away an opponent like this. In the years before that, we struggled to pass the ball at all against these types of opponents.
But we finally do all the things that we need to do right, and put together a complete game against an opponent that's easy to overlook, our youngsters show the drive we need to see out of them... and all anyone can talk about is a Heisman pose after a touchdown.
Is that how far we've stooped as a fan base? Are we all so mired in the years of UNJUSTIFIED pessimism about the program's future from the recent past that we let faux outrage over a tongue-in-cheek pose define our reaction to what should be a happily-celebrated win?
This is just pathetic. There's so, so much good to take away from this game.
Let's talk about Anthony Jennings throwing for over 12.5 yards per attempt so far this season, averaging 2.5 TDs per game, throwing the longest pass in LSU history and averaging over 200 yards per game.
Or Brandon Harris hitting 80% of his passes with a TD in limited playing time last week.
Or Leonard Fournette showing the talent we've been waiting to see and finally getting going on the ground in his second game.
Or Darrel Williams going out as the fourth running back on the depth chart and getting his.
Or Travin Dural having no problem filling Odell Beckham's shoes, averaging nearly 50 yards a reception and bagging a touchdown on two thirds of his touches.
Or Malachi Dupre catching a sick TD in his first college game.
Or the offensive line paving the way for over 300 yards rushing and nearly 6 yards per attempt after having a rough start to the season against Wisconsin.
Or the front seven holding Sam Houston State to 50 yards rushing and under 1.5 yards per attempt.
Or the secondary averaging two picks a game and holding opponents to a completion rate under 33%.
I don't care that it's "just" Sam Houston State. Like I said earlier, we struggled to get up against these kinds of teams last year, and especially in the years before. This is exactly what we needed to see.
It's a disgrace that we can have such an excellent performance and a showcase of our bright future and all everyone can do is complain about the pose. Please. If that got you riled up, you need to reevaluate why you watch college football. The whole point of the sport is to watch talented young men grow up as players, improve upon an elite craft they've worked hard for years on, and have some fun while doing it. If you're gonna get upset because they kid around a little bit while they do it, you're watching the wrong sport.
This is a talented young team with a bright future. I haven't been this excited for an LSU team in years. This group is gonna be special, so instead of getting upset about something trifling like that, why don't we just sit back and enjoy the ride?

You said it all. This team is growing every week, and I'm enjoying it. Some people have to whine about something, though. It just means they couldn't find anything in the actual game to complain about. Good sign.

just thought it was uncalled for. Didnt take away from game, just didnt think it was the best thing for him to do at that point in time

I'm not whining. I do think it was a dumb move but it isn't an important topic.

Yeah, same here. He shouldn't have done it, but Les gave him an earful afterwards and he's hopefully learned his lesson, so my jimmies aren't rustled.

Why do you have to grand stand? The Rant did not so what you said. There were only a few people who are alters that did this. They are not fans of the program. You group everyone together to try and make your post relevant. Go away!

I tried telling everyone that Beckham and Landry's production could be matched. I said they were "replaceable" after the spring yet everyone called me out. There is so much talent on this team and even if they've only played two games, we can all see that they have a very very very high ceiling, or as Hilliard would say, no ceilings. Every position is solid at the moment and all of the guys can step it up, whether it be freshmen or veterans.

This group will win at least one championship both SEC and National. They are a special group. I'm just going to enjoy watching them develop as the season progresses.

The op became everyone else by bringing it back up.
Dumb.

It was Sam Houston state.
I'm about as happy as I will be when we beat NLU next week by same score.
Overjoyed.

If Peyton would have done the pose the year he lost to Woodson do you think they would have given him the trophy?

The people chastising Fournette now are the same people that were sucking his dick just three weeks ago. We, meaning fans, media, coaches and teammates, have no problem hyping him up as the greatest RB to come through the program in years, yet collectively, we jump all over him for one lapse of judgment.
This kid has an enormous amount of pressure on him. Sure he said he wanted to win the Heisman and be an All-American, but who cares? What's wrong with having big goals and aspirations? He didn't rank himself #1 in the country. He didn't compare himself to Adrian Peterson. He didn't tell the SEC Network cameramen to follow him around incessantly all fricking game whether he was on the field or on the sideline. EVERYONE wants this kid to be a star, but when he strikes a Heisman pose during his first TD, everyone turns on him. When are people going to realize that we all created the Leonard Fournette hype?

I hope Fournette trolls the Heisman and does the pose after every TD

Kid made a mistake and was scorned by Miles. I bet until he leaves LSU, he'll just hand the ball to the ref.
Anyway, I like the fire that this teams displays. The young guys are trying to prove they belong, and are not looking to the draft, unlike a player or two from last season.

It was completely inappropriate. Seems very selfish and self promoting...... putting the individual ahead of the team. Secondly, its not like he did that after scoring against any of the big boy teams. Act like you've been there a time or two. I was glad to see Les give him an earful on the sidelines. Now go and sin no more !!!
