Expiration date for milk?

Ate at Mooyah's yesterday. My youngest child orders a white milk with her meal.
Take a look at the expiration date. I've never see a date for milk that is valid for 10 months. How is this possible? Or do I even want to know?

Thats interesting. Have had organic milk that is a few months out. Wonder if packaging makes it last that long or synthetics.

It smelled good, however my youngest daughter picked up on us questioning the date and she decided not to drink it.

it's ultra-high-temp pasteurized, UHT. It's cooked to a higher temperature than the 'regular' pasteurized milk.
i think all the major sources of organic milk sell only UHT milk--at least the ones I usually see. these do not have to be refrigerated, it's mainly a marketing tool to do so

Find a friendly dairy farmer who will sell you fresh milk. I have one near Clinton and its the best milk there is. If anyone asks about it I am supposed to tell them it's for our cats.

We collect shelf-stable milk at the food pantry where I volunteer. That's how I learned about it.

I have stopped at a driveway and left cash in a fridge in exchange for milk up there.
Forgot the place, but was with a good ole boy that was showing me around.

You can also order online delicious fresh milk from Indie Plate.

I actually prefer expired milk, has a cool tangy taste.

UHT milk is part of my hurricane supplies....nothing like a comforting cafe au lait for those post-storm mornings when everything is unsettled. Some versions are good for years. I also like the UHT half & half in small containers for office coffee....it's light years better than the powdered coffee whitener.

I have milk like that. Don't even keep it refrigerated, it is just in the pantry in case we lose power for a few days and I want cereal.
