Went to a gun show today for the first time in a loooooooooooooong time. I saw several Walthers in 9 mm and 40. What is the board's opinion of those in comparison to the Glock's, Sigs, and other makes when it comes to those calibers?

I've got a PPQ-M2 with a couple thousand rounds down the pipe and couldn't be happier

If it says made in West Germany on it, buy it.

I had a Walther PPK (Interarms) in .380 and it was one of the sweetest shooting guns I've ever fired. True to point, I almost didn't need the sights. It would bite you if you didn't hold it just right and it was underpowered as heck, but a great, great gun.

I can't say I've fired any of the newer models. I'm a Sig guy.

Walther is owned by S&W. I understand they are still great guns but i don't think they have the prestige they did prior.

ET fix spelling

Every time it see a PPK I have a strange urge to buy it just to see if I can get as much tail as James Bond with it.

I reviewed Hammertime's Walther PPQ and really enjoyed it:

Walther PPQ(M2) - Polymer Perfection

Compared to the most common of semi autos, the thing you will have the biggest issues with is aftermarket features. I think magazines may run a bit more expensive too but I'm not positive.

It's still overall a fantastic gun.

I bought my wife a PK.380 for her carry gun. It is a pretty smooth shooting little gun. Actually about the same size as my M&P 9mm Shield.

Walther is no longer owned by S&W. They never really were. S&W was just their importer. They now have a headquarter in Fort Smith, Arkansas

$38-45 for the mags. No aftermarket ones either, only Walther

I thought Interarms was the importer.

quote:

In June of 2012, Arnsberg, Germany based PW Group, owners of shooting sports companies, CARL WALTHER Sportwaffen and UMAREX Sportwaffen, announced the formation of Walther Arms, Inc. to handle all the importation, sales, marketing, distribution, and servicing of Walther products in the United States early in 2012. The transition occurred in two phases in 2013. Previously, Smith & Wesson held responsibility for the distribution of Walther firearms and accessories in the United States. On January 1, 2013, that responsibility was transferred to the newly formed Walther Arms, Inc.

I can't compare to Glock or Sig, but I have a Walther p22 and have thousands of rounds out of it. I love it. Zero problems at all. In the event I switch from a .45 to .40 in the future, I'll be looking at Walthers. My .45 is a 3.8" XDM though, and I love it too.

They are fantastic guns. I believe HK VP9 is almost the exact same thing. Excellent trigger and ergos. My top 3 guns on my radar to buy in the handgun category is the Walther PPQ, HK VP9 and Sig P320.
