Anyone else notice that they were trying to play the Tiger Band through the P.A. system? I guess they were concerned that the new addition would either make the stadium so loud that the band would get lost in the noise, or they were trying to make sure the band could be heard in the new addition.

Either way, that must be kind of embarrassing for the band.

Why would that be embarrassing? It sure beats them piping in hip hop music while the band is playing.

Because marching bands aren't supposed to be mic'ed up? Coming from a former band nerd, I'd be a little annoyed with it.

It's to drown out the student section. I've heard from a dude who works sound for LSU and he said they were brought in specifically for that purpose.

Well it didn't work. The student section was mic'ed in with the band

I thought it was awful ... And from the south end zone west corner it sounded like they had changed the songs. Echo either from the expansion or the mic old. It it was awful and aggravating.

Me too. And the P.A. kept on getting that annoying feedback ring.

When stadiums get too large the sound from band gets diluted.

As a former Tiger Band member I feel like I can honestly say that the band sounded horrible while mic'd up. You could tell the instant they would turn the mic's on. It caused a horrible echo. Our band shouldn't need mic's.

Somewhere, Frank and Linda are reading about this and shaking their head.

Sounded horrible in the SE Endzone.

Take the mics out, there is no scientific way to get all that to work out.

In the past, LSU was one of the few SEC schools that didn't mic the band. I think it will fine if they can work out the sound system issues. I'd rather them be mic'd up than not be able to hear them at all.

I actually texted my son in the SS and asked if they'd changed the songs!

ANd you couldn't hear crap clearly when they played videos ... and I wear contacts but hell could NOT see ANY name on the "cards" that they showed when they did the Tigers in the NFL video.

And furthermore, the stats on the scoreboard in the NORTH endzone are not nearly as big as they used to be ... can't see them that great either.

It ain't all that ... and I'm disappointed for sure.

No idea what roody poo was in charge of that decision. I was sitting maybe two rows behind the band and that feedback was messing with me bad. Horrible decision, hopefully they'll get rid of it by Saturday.
