For the recruiting experts on this board, how much impact will the current sad state of affairs next door have on LSU recruiting?

It looks like it will probably help A&M recruiting more than anything.

Anything bad that happens at Austin certainly helps.

Didn't it help us with Teheuma and Lealaimatafao?

maybe we can get the Teuhema's cousin, was it? Wasn't he an OG?

It certainly did help us land them, you're right. But it didn't hurt that A&M didn't offer the older Teheuma or Lealaimatafao.

Patrick Vahe. 4 star OG. would be a nice get, but so far he is still solid to UT.

It basically giftwraps 5* lb Malik Jefferson to the aggots now. A&M was going to get their share of offensive guys under sumlin, but now they will also get the top defensive talent in tx by default.

It's always prime recruiting for LSU in Texas.

Texas is in complete disarray. IF Strong gets things turned around there it wont be for a few years. I absolutely couldnt believe Tyrone freaking Swoopes was their actual backup QB. He was one of the worst "Big time" high school QB recruits I've ever seen...and this is year 2 for him in college.

This all being said, all this really does is help out A&M 10-fold over helping us. We'll get an extra kid or 2 from Texas while A&M might get 10 guys who would normally go to Texas. A&M is the only Texas team that is any good these days.

A&M can only do 25 a year

LSU will certainly benefit with UT being down

The net effect is much worse.

Like I said, A&M is getting like 10 more top Texas kids when Texas is down vs. us getting 1 or 2 more. It helps us slightly DIRECTLY but indirectly it hurts us bad because a flood of top talent is going to a team we play every season.

Obviously A&M benefits and that's without question

But they still haven't won anything and won't help a lot til they do.

Luckily for us, 3-5 good players out of TX is damn good considering our in-state guys

They havent had the type of talent LSU or Bama has, now they have been getting that recently.

A&M - #16 class in 2012, #9 class in 2013, #5 class in 2014, #2 class currently in 2015

That is a heavy trend in a direction of getting top talent everywhere. I also dont know if you havent noticed, but their new QB Kenny Hill is nothing like Manziel. He is a pure pocket passer which will require a completely different gameplan than we had vs. Manziel since Manziel was an uncomfortable QB in the pocket. They also look to have, at minimum, a slightly improved defense, with all the young talent hitting the field.

I've never liked Texas, but in the current situation it may actually help us if Strong gets things turned around soon, by hurting TAM some.

There's so much talent in TX, nobody can get them all.
