In spite of the gloom and doom (interestingly enough, largely from conservatives these days), America is still the strongest country (militarily, economically, technologically) in the world. There is no credible evidence that it won't continue to be so in the foreseeable future.

Our economy is a well oiled machine.
The problem is that we are 17 trillion in debt and climbing even with those good numbers. It's a major financial crisis waiting to happen

The true mark of a great country and strong society is its ability to weather bad times. We are almost through 16 years of leadership by Bush the Lesser and Obama and there isn't widespread cannibalism in the streets. Any other country in the world would have dissolved into a Mad Max wasteland by now.

Truth.
The USA has been very resilient; however, the tens of millions on the dole, growing by the day, threaten the future.
