Lots of talk around Madison, Tensas parish that the Feds are getting closer to pulling the trigger. Population is booming.

I was talking to a wild life and fisheries officer and he said, sometime within the next 5 years Louisiana will have a black bear season.

We are hearing the same thing. In 5 years cant imagine how bad the bear population will be.

We will, but it's going to be a lot longer then 5 years. Areas that have a shite load, they will be trapping and moving to other areas.

what do you have against bears?
Posted on 9/4/14 at 12:27 pm to tigerinthebueche
I dont have anything against them, however they are becoming a huge problem. They cause damage to houses, camps, deer stands, etc. They also are dangerous as they walk highways and roads in areas.

Those are trash bags, not bears.

understood. thought maybe one was eating your chickens or something. I don't see too many of them down here and didn't realize they were so plentiful in NLA.

So a bear being a bear is a problem? I have no problem with hunting them for the meat and the sport, that's your right to chose to do so, but hunting them for this reason is ignorant. If you don't want bears messing with your house, camp, or deer stand, stop building shite in their "yard".

what if the bear was relocated to my hood? I've been there, the bear hasn't. Now the bear is tearing my stuff up. He gets the same treatment the armadillo does.
Bye bear.

I've been hearing this for the last 10 years

It won't hurt my feelings if I never see or have to deal with any type of bear.

Good - but it needs to be done right.
My deer lease in UP two years ago, we saw more bears than deer.
Got the hell out of that deal.

When they do have a season, I imagine there will be lots of competition or a lottery for those who get to hunt them.

Word is land owners will get tags. # of tags based on amount of land owned, etc.

I get a little nervous blood trailing a buck at night. Not tracking no damn bear at night

Several land owners in Madison and Tensas have met with Tensas Refuge Manager and some state officals. Suppose to be a "study" to see what a season would look like.
