Learn me the best homecooked Po Boy recipe.

I know it's all about the bread, what do I look for?

Remember I'm in Columbus Ohio so I won't get any LA bread brands.

the outside of the bread should be somewhat crunchy, but soft when you squeeze. It should give a little bit.

I'm almost afraid to ask--what kind of leftover shrimp do you have? Ideally, freshly fried or grilled shrimp would make the best poboy.

Do you have access to Vietnamese bread ?

After that you just need shredded lettuce, tomato, and mayo

I made the garlicky oven roasted shell-on shrimp that Gris Gris suggested.

It came out alright but I didn't have a rack to roast them on a cookie sheet so my gf thought they were too buttery so I figured a po boy could mitigate that a bit.

Too buttery? Don't serve her bbq'd shrimp.

I think they'd be good for a poboy. If you reheat them, though, they will be overcooked. I'd probably use them in a shrimp salad.

I was just gonna eat them cold in the sandwich.

She didn't want the sandwich so I'm just gonna eat them for dinner

honestly the Jimmy John's bread that they sell for $.50 per loaf might be the best you can get in your neck of the woods.

Sadly, this is what I was thinking as well.

There are two French bakeries that I found in columbus.

What style of bread am I looking for? A baguette?

Sometimes, I find those to be a bit tough and heavy. A light French bread as describd above. Thin crispy crust and light and airy and soft in the middle.
