Except for not having a bye after Auburn or UF, I love how we have the schedule set up for the first half of the season.

We face a real challenge game one and it hits all our young guys hard right out of the gate.

We then have good tape to go over and two easy opponents to correct mistakes, get reps for depth, and improve on.

We then face a good defensive and offensive team in Mississippi State (who is nearly all around better than Wisconsin imo), which will really test how well we have improved during our "cupcakes".

After that, we have another tune up game to improve on whatever flaws we had against MSU, plus the added benefit of getting lots of reps for depth again.

Then the real challenge (not to downplay MSU because I think they are pretty decent) facing a top 5 high powered Auburn offensive team on the road in one of the toughest places to play for us.

If we had a bye after Auburn, I would declare this a perfect schedule. All in all, we have a great starting situation for the type of very talented, but young team we have.

Except those back-to-back road trips to AU and UF.

Pretty much this. Auburn and Florida on the road back-to-back will be really tough for our young guys, but fortunately we have a few more weeks to get ready for that. I do wish we had a bye before November, but them's the breaks. The schedule worked out nearly as well as it could.

I see the OP's point. For a young team to have a back loaded schedule is great.
The problem is that we are not that young, and yes I know we have a great freshman class and few RS freshman we think can contribute. WR's and QB's are young. Every other position group has several 3+ year guys.
Starters last game 7SRs 8JRs 6 SOs 1 FR. Backups that played a series;OL 1SR, WR 1FR, QB 1FR, RB 1SR, 1FR, TE 2SR 1SO,DL 2SO 1FR,LB 1JR 1SO, DB 1SO 1FR. I may have missed some, but why do we insist we are young.

Having to play nine straight weeks bothers me when after we have Bama and then travel to Arkie back to back. Arkie is never easy THERE even when they suck. And from the looks of things that last game @ A & M will be a tough one...

We're talking about the 1st half of the season PEEJ

We'll know a lot more about the team for the second half

Beating Aubie helps us a lot more than beating Florida.

I agree. Playing Wisc showed where are weaknesses are. Gives you some time to work on that before SEC play begins. Starting off with cream puffs gives you false hope. Id rather play a biggie first. We need to work on passing next game with our qb's and wr's

I bet you wouldnt have liked it if we lost to wisky. You would be saying "why would we schedule such a tough opener when we are this young"

Can't have everything. Byes before Ala and A&M are pretty nice, I'd say.

I've been worried about Arky ever since I saw the schedule. That game is an absolute trap game.

We'll be emotionally flat after playing Bama (win or lose) and then immediately go on the road to Arky, who always plays us tough and is better than they were last year.

We'll be fortunate to get out of there with a win. If we do win, it will be close, and ugly.

I agree with Arky being tough, and it doesn't help that they get a bye week beforehand while we have to play Bama. We may very well beat them, but it won't be pretty.

this is probably our best schedule in years, the way it plays out for our youngsters is about as good as it gets.

I'm just not gonna complain just because we don't have to play UGA this season.

The entire SEC West is tough this year In our division. It's hard, harder, hardest all the way. And this year UK isn't a total creampuff. Plus UF. It's going to be a rocky year!
