Do you try to eat healthy during football? If so, what are some ideas? I have a very hard time this time of year.

Saturdays on in the fall are not made for dieting. Count calories the other days. Way less stressful.

I had a short stint of brown rice jambalaya and veggie pizza last football season.

Never again. Lesson learned. Rather starve myself the other 6 days, and just enjoy myself on day 7.

I make a bean dip like LA caviar or cowboy caviar. Could bring a veggie tray or hummus

Try using nonfat greek yogurt as a base for dips. It's high protein, no fat, and still creamy/delicious. Serve with Kettle brand "Real Sliced Potatoes" (formerly known as Kettle bakes). LINK
The entire 4 oz bag is just 480 calories. You can get your chip n dip in a high protein, relatively low calorie way.

I just don't get this. Use 93% lean hamburger and you get a much better flavor. Heck I see a ton of people trying to diet using plain ground turkey which has more fat and calories than ground chuck.

The guy constantly making threads about meat substitutes doesn't understand using turkey in chili?

I eat veggies and hummus or guacamole. I don't really like creamy dips but if I get a weird craving for some I use Greek yogurt as the base. For nachos I use Beanitos chips, fat free refried beans or black beans, low fat (not fat free) cheese to make them healthier. Quest Nutrition now makes protein chips and I will probably throw those into the football food mix. They are kind of dry though.

My big issue is the alcohol. I don't use caloric mixers but geez just the alcohol is a lot of extra calories.

I believe I made exactly one thread on meat substitutes because I am trying to reduce the meat in my diet. I am not sure how substituting one meat for another relates to this.

What I don't understand is people substituting turkey for ground beef to try to reduce fat and calories in a dish. If someone does it because they prefer the flavor I can understand but I did not think this is what this thread was about.

Are you implying turkey is no healthier than ground beef? Because it sure looks like you are.
