I realize OT Engineers do not need the money. However, just considering doing it on the side to pick up a little extra spending cash.

If you have done this, was the time worth the money? How much do HS math (algebra, trig, etc) tutors charge per hour?

Teachers who tutor can charge 25-30 an hour. Close to that possibly?

Do it all the time for family and friends kids.

Don't do it just for anybody. They just expect you to do their homework for them while they text message.

I'm not an engineer officially yet and I do this already.

Do you obtain the curriculum beforehand? Or do you just wing it when they show up with the lesson?

You should be able to tutor college algebra with ease let alone HS stuff. I've tutored several friends through their basic college algebra/trig classes.

Agreed. Just do not live in a college town so HS is the only option currently.

It's usually a last minute deal so I have to wing it most of the time. I ask them what the topic is beforehand it I have time.

I did some part time physics tutoring while I was still in college. A girl paid me weekly to come over twice a week the whole semester to help with her homework. That's a pretty good gig to get on. Much better than doing the case by case thing. The money is better and guaranteed.

I think price depends on material and qualifications. I had a tutor when I started out that charged $55/hr. I went through 5 different tutors before that though. Most of them just got aggravated at my memory and that I asked so many questions. He has a master's in physics, a master's in math, and an EE degree. He had also been teaching high school and college level classes for 10 years. It was expensive, but he helped me get through a bunch of stuff.

The regular kids LSU suggested charged $20-30/hr and were shitty tutors. I considered doing it this semester, but I get aggravated easily and am not a good teacher

That's stuffs so jumbled up in my head only I understand it now . I'd really have to spend a good bit of time coming up with some sort of lesson plan. Otherwise I'd be talking in circles. I'm terrible at explaining things. Plus outside of simple trig and algebra, I've forgotten everything. I'd have to study calculus to remember. There's formulas for all that once you get into the real world

If you are any good, the bare minimum you should charge should be $50/hr.

People also vastly overrate their ability to effectively tutor HS math.

You could easily charge $30 an hour and stay busy if you're good.

I happen to be excellent at it
