Interesting, I guess they really don't believe they need Durant or have the cash for this.

UA is first and foremost a football/soccer/workout brand. They've made some in-roads in other areas, but they don't have the cash Nike has to win a lot of bidding wars.

2 out of 3 isn't bad.

Really they are an apparel company. I think I agree with the market. I just don't see KD as a transcendent player on and off the court, worthy of that sort of money.

Sure - and I consider myself an early UA adopter - relatively speaking, back to 2003.

The reason I said football/soccer/workout is that is where I see their market penetration - in the gym, on football fields and, at least cold weather, on soccer fields. They have some presence in golf, but I don't play anymore, so maybe it's bigger there than I thought.

The only place UA outnumbers Nike is in the weightroom - at least where I see the brands side-by-side. But, football is where UA was born and has a decent presence there. I didn't even know they were making moves in basketball, honestly.

youth apparel, look what kids are wearing, you will be shocked when you notice the huge slant towards UA. Its one of the reasons im so optimistic about their future. Nike is seen as an older brand to the kids, stuff their parents wear. IMO.

UA has such a shitty logo though. I think Nike's simple logo has helped its longevity.

UA shoes and such just look with that logo on there IMO. Not that I'm the target market or any thing.

No, just no.

Nike has a better logo for a shoe I think but in no way is under armour logo shitty. In fact I think it's better than Nike.

Your taste sucks!

In any event, I was in high school when the product they are named after came out. Impressive they turned one product into the company it is today, but they definitely didn't think that one aspect out. I don't care what anybody says.

Maybe because UA signed Giselle Bundchen?

Yeah I remember when UA was coming on the scene. The undershirt material for baseball and football. I had it in high school around 2002/2003. Their shoe isnt the best, Ill agree there. But I do love their apparel.

In terms of the stock value going up, I think the fact that UnderArmour even threw out a competitive bid impressed people.

Under Armour is going to stick around. I see a ton of people wearing it, especially the young kids

KD would neither make nor break the brand. I'm sure if the bean counters figured the price to roi numbers were good, it'd have been a go. The company has been around for awhile and its potential for growth is still what keeps the stock driving.
