To him it was the most impressive win of the week. A lot of this has to do with how he graded out the Wisconsin football team preseason.

The first week grades seem to be all over the map for this young LSU team.

The biggest thing about Saturday was surviving and getting a win. Most teams didn't look overly impressive outside of uga and texas am. I believe this LSU team will show great improvement these next few weeks, and the Wisconsin win will continue to look better.

I think the most that came out about that game is how shitty USCs defense is. Its the same Offense AM has had for 2 years.

6 weeks from now we won't recognize the LSU team that played on Saturday

... I hope

I agree that SCar is overrated but as the media sees it, Texas am went in and won a game they weren't supposed to. My point was most teams did not look great week 1. We should make large improvements these next few games.

It will be hard to tell though with who we are playing.....

The MSU game will be a telling sign........

Should be fun to see how many teams have parentheses after their ranking this week. This guy is probably alone on LSU, but it will be nice to see- 12. LSU (1). This team is still a mystery and I kinda like it that way.

Don't get too excited. This guy is the worst college football writer of any major media outlet, and his ballots are always insane. Have been for years.

Wow, I don't think I could honestly make that rating. No doubt LSU had the second best win of week one, as far as a ranked team, but #1...

And that's why the AP poll should just go away and holds no meaning to me whatsoever.

Yea, I know. I wouldn't rank them in the top 10. It's just fun to see the different perspectives. We usually all fall for the trap of "transitive property" when grading out teams (see SEC Rant) even when time and time again that has blown up in our face.

College football is unpredictable and that's what makes it so entertaining.

Maybe the third... A & M and UGA were much more impressive than LSU.

The playoff committee should make it a rule that it will not take into account, to any extent, a poll that publishes rankings prior to the 6th week of the season. S Carolina was way overranked (as were a number of teams) based on last year's performances. It's college football, teams change dramatically from year to year.

That guy typically has the most bizarre ranking of any AP writer.

Sure, but they showed that an inexperienced QB probably wasn't going to hold them back this year. A&M was very impressive.
