Coaches
- KC Keller - Head Coach; Previously was the head coach at University of Delaware from 2002 - 2012. Won 2003 D-1AA National Title in 2003 and made it to the Finals in 2007 and 2010. Pretty much has won wherever hes been. 174-74-1 as a Head Coach.
- Phil Longo - O.C; Brings the new spread "Air Raid" attack to Sam Houston. Good reputation as a QB coach. Averaged 43.3ppg and 536.5ypg at Slipper Rock (Real school?) in 2013.
- Mike Collins - D.C; Last season led Southland Conference in Run d, 3rd in scoring and redzone D. Lost a lot from last year
Offense
QB
- Jared Johnson - 6'1 215lbs. 62/99 for 703yards, 5 TDs and 2 INTs. 17 carries for 120yards and 1 TD. Dual Threat type of QB.
RBs
- Jalen Overstreet - Transfer from University of Texas. 6'2 212lbs. 4 star recruit. 11 carries for 83 yards for a 7.5ypc.
- Donavan Williams - JUCO transfer; 6'0 212lbs. NJCAA All American Honorable Mention and All conference last year. 15 carries for 99 yards with 1 TDs, 6.6ypc.
- KeShawn Hill - 5'10 200lbs. 2x All Southland selection. All Purpose type of back. Explosive. 32 carries for 199yards (5.9ypc) and 5 receptions for 136yards and 1 TD.
WRs
- LaDarius Brown- 6'2 220lbs. TCU transfer. Had 63 catches for 778yards and 7 TDs in 2 seasons at TCU. 4 star recruit, #4 athlete, 53rd overall. Big recruit out of high school with a lot of high profiled offers. 9 catches for 110 yards this season.
- Yedidah Louis - 5'8 187lbs. Slot WR. Favorite target of QB. 13 catches for 104yards this season.
- Derreck Edward- 6'1 170lbs. Texas Tech transfer. 4 star recruit, #33 WR overall. Good offers. 7 catches for 86 yards and a TD this season.
-Jeffrey Thomas - 6'3 200lbs. Transfer from Colorado. 7 catches for 94 yards and a TD.
OL
- OT Donal Jackson III; All Conference Selection in 2013; Preseason FCS All American 3rd Team
Defense
-Only return 3 starters from last season, Safety Michael Wade, Cornerback Desmond Fite, DL Sione Latu. But, they do get DL Gary Lorence back this year. Hes a 2x All Conference Selection but was injured last year and received a medical RS.
Overview
They average 43ppg and 613.5ypg (257 rushing, 356.5 passing). But, they give up 38ppg and 513 yards per game(229 rushing, 284 passing). Well coached on the offensive side and are complete opposite of Wisconsin (Full on spread Air Raid attack), so it should be nice to see us go against them after we went against the power running of Wisky.
They are young and inexperienced at the OL. But, they have some solid skill position players, better than most of us think. Have done a really good job recruiting JUCO guys and D1 transfer players and their skill position players show that. Had a couple of major recruits transfer there. Their QB can move well and has a nice arm, but he can miss on some throws and get very inaccurate. We should be able to get some INTs off the QB. And should dominate in the trenches and run the ball down their throats. They are bad defensively. So hopefully we get some of the youngsters in there early and let them play for a while and get some more confidence on the offensive side of the ball.
We should handle them, but they are a better team than most of us think. Still should roll though.
If anyone has any other info on Sam Houston, please post. Im not really familiar with them, just what I have read on them and their stats from last year and early this season.

One more thing to note about our opponent: The Pita Pit off campus at SHSU sucks.

Interesting fact: They've already played 2 games. Got to play Eastern Washington a week early.

I've eaten there! Why does it suck? My breakfast wrap was good.

The Tigers secondary will be able to sharpen their skills this weekend because the Bearkats will air it out. Note that the receivers are 4 stars and have transferred from other larger institutions.

They're one of the best 1-AA teams out there which puts them at around Miss St's level. Having one of the USA's alltime great goalkeepers as a coach is pretty cool too

Is this the same guy who got fired as HC at ULM after he drove his truck through someone's house?
