In what way? Armed guards surrounding you?

If someone steals your stuff, there's a chance, slight, but a chance...the police will get some of it back.

You're gonna have to be a little more specific than that.

When your shite is in jeopardy, call the government to come protect it. See how that works out for you.

In any way at all.

I don't necessarily mean they have to get my shite back every time - but do I have a right to government providing a deterrent (arrest and prison time) to reduce the likelihood my property rights will be violated by a private actor?

I think about this every time hurricane season comes around and I think about FEMA. There's disaster relief for everything. Is that a right? If you don't have insurance, then should you be responsible for the situation you are in? I know for sure there'd be outrage if it didn't exist, but is it really a right.

I remember being at LSU for Gustav and some friends went get FEMA EBT cards for like $100. Their reasoning was that they lost over $100 in groceries. I thought it was shitty. You lost food, but the government doesn't owe that food to you. That's just life.

As a taxpayer you have the right to vote or demand that Government provide a form of law and order, by use of your tax dollars, to ensure the public safety.

The way it's supposed to work is the people are supposed to free to protect themselves and their property without needing Government....because police don't protect you from crimes they only punish those after the crime is committed.

Government is supposed to be controlled by the people because we vote for them to represent us and our collective interests, and to provide needed public services and run foreign affairs with the money we pay them via taxes.

People are not supposed to be controlled by Government. The Founding Fathers envisioned a country run by the people, not a people run by Government.

There is nothing in the constitution that guarantees you that right unless your property has been unreasonably seized by the government.

You are protected from this via the Fourth Amendment.

There you go.

That's our govt's bare bone function. Our "social contract". Unfortunately our gov has lost it's way.
