As a child, my sister received a piney-wood rooter for her 7th birthday, which she affectionately name Rudy. Of course, it wasn't a 'miniature. She bottle fed it and as it grew, it became much like a dog and a beloved family pet. He would come when called, could fetch, and loved to sit in your lap so he could have his belly scratched.
For her 9th birthday, we had a cochon de lait. Rudy was the guest of honor. While he was great with my sister, he was better with BBQ sauce.
