Got Ertz as my TE2, but considering dropping him for Kelce. Who do y'all like more? I feel like Ertz has a bit of a higher floor, but Kelce with more upside.

Guess I should add its a 0.5 ppr and my other TE is Jordan Reed

Being he is going to be a TE2 I would take Kelce as the higher upside. You are probably only going to use him for one week. If he blows up you can trade either. I take a chance here.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking, my only concern is if Reed goes down, I'd need a plug and play. Can I trust Kelce to be that eventually? I know Ertz would be able to fill the void, somewhat.

ESPN's Adam Teicher has been told that Travis Kelce's big-play ability is one reason the Chiefs weren't more aggressive in pursuing wide receivers this offseason. This suggests that Kelce will be a real part of the Week 1 gameplan even though his first-team snaps were limited in the preseason. Note that with Dwayne Bowe suspended for Week 1, the Chiefs' wideout depth chart reads Donnie Avery, Frankie Hammond, Junior Hemingway, Albert Wilson, A.J. Jenkins. Kelce, an exciting talent with eye-opening playmaking ability after the catch, is a prime TE2 target. We'll have a better read on his exact role after Week 1. Aug 31 - 1:19 PM

Kelce is arguably their best playmaker not named Jamal Charles. He's very Gronk like. I'm thinking he sees 100 targets this season

100 receptions? This thread deserves a bump later on in the season

Whoops read that as receptions, disregard

Still, 100 targets is a lot. That would be 20% of KC's passing attempts and in 2013 would have ranked him 7th among TE targets.

So no on the 100 target?

That's not really a lot, but either way that's kind of the point. Throw the ball to your best players.

McGrath and Fasano saw 73 targets combined at TE.

McCluster saw 83.

McGrath is gone, McCluster is gone, Fasano will be phased out the pass game, WR corps reads like a practice squad.

Chiefs are starting a UDFA and Donnie Avery week 1.

Kelce is going to get some looks. Risky start that could payoff huge week 1.

I understand your point, but 100 targets in 2013 for a TE would have ranked him 7th in TE targets. So IMO it is a lot of targets to expect.
