BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU Tiger fans are going to find it a lot harder to catch a shuttle bus to Tiger Stadium this football season.

The Captial Area Transit System (CATS) is limiting its Touchdown Express tickets to 1,000 per game. CATS sold, on average, 7,300 per game last football season.

CATS Chief Executive Officer Bob Mirabito said the change stems from some changes LSU made to its campus on game day, specifically converting Nicholson Drive and Tiger Stadium Drive to a pedestrian area. That was the spot the buses would drop off and pick up passengers.

Mirabito said CATS will roll 20 buses per game. The buses will begin picking up passengers three hours before the game and continue until kickoff. However, traffic contra flow will only allow the shuttles to make one trip from Tiger Stadium after the games.

"If we sell out the first couple of games that will be great for CATS and our customers, but that tells me that come Ole Miss and Alabama games there's going to be a lot more demand than there will be tickets," Mirabito said.

Roundtrip tickets are $10 per game. Passengers can buy a seven game packet for $60. Touchdown Express tickets will be available online until October. They are now available for purchase at the CATS terminal on Florida Boulevard. You may also buy them at any shuttle pick up location on game day.

Those include Hotel Indigo, Hollywood Casino Hotel, L'Auberge Casino, and at the I-110 and Florida Boulevard overpass.

So less parking, less mass transit and more people will be in the stadium? This is goin to be great.

They have made it harder and harder to park. At times it seems like zero common sense is being used.

Maybe LSU can utilize their own busses for some type of transit system.

Eventually it will cost you a good but of money to park anywhere within a mile radius of TS. They are in the process of making people have to walk from far that way they'll choose to spend that extra $500 on a parking pass. It's alllllll about $$$$$.

If only they had gotten that big tax increase...oh, wait...

They need to save their money to fund the dozens of buses that ply Bluebonnet daily with 1-2 riders on each bus. Hollywood stars don't ride in style like those few folks do.

Sounds like contra flow after the game is limiting what they can do.

I don't think this was a money issue.

I came in here thinking it was....but I don't think it is either.

It is a logistics issue of the way the place is set up now allowing for fewer buses.

They are probably taking a hit money wise NOT being able to have the full 7000.

Exactly. CATS to the game was generally a clusterfrick. There was no real route back and forth from the stadium, and loading after the game was horribly inefficient. That said, it was still MUCH better than dealing with ever decreasing free parking and abysmal traffic management. If the changes are due to LSU's traffic changes then way to go LSU. Build a new fricking section of the stadium, and then make it harder and more expensive to get to the game.

I've been a season ticket holder for 25+ years, but with every passing year it's becoming more of a burden than a privilege to do so.

It's worth looking into. Bama did this a few years ago when they tightly restricted parking in the central part of campus. University transit runs constantly for several hours before and after the game between the remote parking lots and a drop spot adjacent to the quad.

City transit runs constantly from a drop spot two blocks on the other side of the stadium to the public lots and decks downtown. There's also paid transit between the free parking at the mall and the stadium.

Lines can be long for the buses after the game, but they move quickly. Gameday traffic is still not pleasant, but it's a lot better than it used to be.

The "build it they will come" attitude is not going to work anymore. People have better choices now.

Having said that...feel sorry for all of you. I walk out my house and can be to the stadium in 15 minutes from the lakes.

But we paid millions to a consultant to tell us to go back to the Skip Bertman years plan. Then closed down a major road because of all the deaths.

That stadium will look great when it continues to empty out after half time. People are now going to have more incentive to stay home or leave early.

Uber is not going to help much, especially in contra flow.

Total lack of centralized planning can't be fixed
