Who's been workin' their dogs this week in preparation for teal season? What are you guys doing? Let's see some pics.
Mine is brushing up on hand signals and double marks. Probably won't hunt her much until the first split (unless I find a rice field). Too many gators in the marsh.

Getting my shorthairs ready for South Dakota pheasant by roading them with a bicycle.

Not the kind of response you were looking for, but my lab is attempting to get into working on deer stand shape. This morning he ate the leftovers from P.F. Chang's and about 20 leftover Swedish meatballs from IKEA. I am sure he followed that up with about 8 hours of sleeping in the back yard interrupted by short bursts of digging to make his hole under my son's swingset/playhouse deeper.

Got mine doing wind sprints with the frisbee. Should be able to hunt all day by the time teal season gets here.

Off topic, but how do GSPs compare to EPs in terms of stamina? I've hunted behind English Pointers and their stamina was incredible. GSPs seems to have a more muscular build than an EP so I was curious. I love GSPs. Beautiful dogs. Would love to have one one day.

Been working with mine every couple of days (well, until this Godforsaken heat showed up). Mainly working on hand signals and some stamina.
Dove season should help get him ready for duck.

I never used one of my dogs in teal season. To many gators running about. And yes, I knew a few people that lost there dogs that way.

Some shorthair lines have "rumors" of having EP cross breed in the past. The EP tend to range farther than most, but not all shorthairs. Both can run all day when in shape, but the EP will probably be a little quicker than most shorthairs.

Cool. Just curious. I have alot of respect for both breeds. Hunting behind a well trained bird dog is a special thing, upland or waterfowl.

So have I, and my girl is a small lab. She'd be the perfect snack. I'm not putting her in marsh or open water until its cooled off quite a bit. MAYBE by November haha.

We work our dogs every day, as well as letting them run free. One of ours would run until he passed out if we let him. Can't wait to hunt with them this season!

Right now they get the tennis ball and about 30 secs of command training before dinner..
They also like to swim laps in my pool during the middle of the day

Was busy all summer my boy got way out of shape. Going to the camp this weekend, going to run his arse till he quits.
This heat kills him unfortunately.

Owning a top notch dog they should get work year round..

Sometimes we run them at night to keep them in shape during the summer, but this year, we'll just wait till opening day to turn em loose.

I did two a days with her for two weeks then got lazy. Didn't do a whole lot last couple weeks with the heat. That's changing tomorrow. She's in shape, but there's always work that needs to be done.
