just got approval to open a new factory near old one. not making pies yet.

LINK

probably the most overrated thing about new orleans. would much rather get a tastee donut than a hubig pie.

Thanks. I saw that article before, but a newer story from January of this year said there's trouble between the owners and plans are on hold. I was wondering if there was anything new on that front.

like much of new orleans past, not having it makes it that much better. never met a more nostalgic city than new orleans. sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad.

hubig pies were nothing to get excited about. never heard anyone rave about them until after katrina and again after their factory burned down. think once they made it on that out of towner's show about treme, people thought it had real legitimacy. but dont know why. days old fruit filled fried pie? why not just go to tastees and get a hours or minutes old fruit filled donut. much better and cheaper.

I bought one a few months ago. I took one bite of it, spit it out and threw the rest away. Disgusting.

I only liked the apple and lemon Hubig Pies.
A warm apple pie in a bowl with a scoop of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla on top is a fat boy's dream!
I hope they come back. Just something that's always been around.

That's the one I always got. I used to eat them for breakfast when I was in junior high. My mother wasn't exactly a morning person.

I know a guy that used to start the day with a hubig's, 12 oz coke, and a Camel.

Hubigs was my go to boat food. Not fine dining for sure, but better than Hostess and Little Debbie.

There is still problems between the two owners of Hubigs that is preventing the company from rebuilding. The property on which the factory had been located (on Dauphine in the Marigny) has recently sold, so maybe that's a sign that there is finally some movement that the company will rebuild.
