So most here probably know about the increase from 8 to 10 players for the practice squad, but there are also new eligibility rules as well.

LINK

Just for the 2 new players:

In addition to the extra two players, the NFL changed the rules of how much experience those two extra players can have to be eligible for the squad. The new rule states the extra two players can have up to 32 games on an active roster over their first two seasons and still be eligible for the practice squad.

For all players:

Another new rule in place says if a player spends less than six games of the season on a team's practice squad, it doesn't count against their total practice squad seasons. This is key because players are only allowed three full seasons of practice squad eligibility.

So basically you can have someone play a couple of seasons and still stash later if you draft or sign someone better but still want to keep them(of course they are still subject to being claimed off waivers).

The rules also allow you to pick someone up late in the year and put them on the PS and not have it count as one of their 3 years.

So a guy like Bryce Harris, Corey White, or Trevin Wade could actually be a PS candidate.

It definitely makes things more interesting for who'll get those last 2 spots.

He wouldn't clear waivers though. Would he?

More than likely no. I was just mentioning him because a guy with his resume has never been eligible before and now all of a sudden he is.

On that same token Hicks would also be eligible. But of course he would never get cut.

I do think Harris and Wade are possible depending on how other things shake out (Harris hasn't exactly looked great at LT, leading to the possibility of having Strief be the backup LT and Jones the backup RT if he makes it).

It just gives you so many more options in who you can keep.

Clearly you didn't read my reply. I was saying he is eligible for it, not that he would be cut and put on it.

Maybe you should put it down.
