This map is proof that gun rights transcend party lines. Vermont, the most liberal area in the western world, has no licensing laws. Are you kidding me?

Vermont and Maine probably don't have a shitty population to worry about open carry.

I saw it in Idaho.

Weird. But in a good way.

Good luck open carrying anywhere with people without having issues, though..

I carry everyday (xds 9mm) in my holster right now, but I don't like open carry. sort of defeats the purpose of surprising the culprit.

I've lived in Texas, and I thought their gun laws sucked compared to Alabama. Texas has an undeserved reputation for being a conservative paradise.

FWIW, I would never open carry, but I've had a cc permit since I was 18.

In AZ we can open carry AND carry concealed without any permits....even in bars and schools!

I see people open carrying a few times a week. It's always a handgun in a holster, it's not like they are walking around with AR-15s, but nobody minds. Guns are just a part of life in AZ.

Bama handgun laws go south here:

quote:

a person legally permitted to possess a pistol but who does not possess a valid concealed weapon permit, may possess an unloaded pistol in his or her motor vehicle if the pistol is locked in a compartment or container that is in or affixed securely to the vehicle and out of reach of the driver and any passenger in the vehicle.

Like 7 or 8 homicides a year for the whole state.

I hate that law too, but small safes are extremely cheap. Or, you can get a CCW permit for $20, much less than the $140 in Texas and I don't have to listen to Jim Bob teach me gun safety for an entire day.

MS just approved open carry, but they stopped short of formally allowing concealed carry in schools. Instead, they just took language out of the enhanced carry permit that excluded guns in schools (the regular permit explicitly prohibits carrying on school campuses) without commenting how this might conflict with gun-free zones.

It's going to get interesting as that exclusion begins to get challenged.

My friend was texting me pics of guys open carrying at some flea market type thingy in north east AL last weekend.

But I stress NE AL.

Eta: I'm talking rifles on their backs.
