He would have had a key part regardless, but the All-Star forward/center has now potentially become the team's marquee player, especially with point guard Derrick Rose still feeling his way back from a serious knee injury.

quote:

"Anthony would have had a huge role no matter what," U.S. head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "Anthony's one of the best players in the NBA. Scoringwise, he'll get more opportunities. If you have Durant, you're going to put things in for him. When he's not there those things aren't in so for everybody it becomes a little more available. Anthony played a great game against Brazil, not a good game. He had an influence on every exchange offensively or defensively while he was in there."

With Davis having not yet experienced the NBA postseason, Williams sees this opportunity as his chance to take an alpha-dog role on this team and incorporate it when he returns to New Orleans in the fall.

"Mentally I think the biggest jump he's making right now is understanding how to be the man on the team night in and night out," Williams said.

It's crazy how toward the end of the season people would still argue that AD was a borderline top 10 player, and now pretty much everyone is saying he's top 5, if not top 3.

not sure if it's been posted on here yet, but the other day, Coach K said something to the effect of in his 40 years of coaching and watching film, he's never seen anyone like AD on the defensive end. He's constantly moving his feet, putting himself in a position to alter and block shots unlike anyone else.

Absolutely, this is turning into an absolutely perfect offseason for his growth. I think it will also be a great experience for Monty. Basically, Monty will get to sit back somewhat and watch Coach K and Thibs utilize AD. The rest of our team will obviously be a bit different, but it should give the coaches different ideas of how to utilize the Brow.

On what planet is Anthony Davis a "once in a decade" prospect?

Andrew Wiggins is a once in a decade prospect, Anthony Davis is not.

So you'd trade Davis for (the rights to draft Andrew Wiggins)

Hell yes and I guarantee you The Pelicans would as well. I am glad you guys support your team but you guys are acting like he is going to be a top 3 player in the NBA which I never see happening.

I hope he does turn out to be a great player for you but IMO Jrue is your superstar,

he's admitted he was incredibly wrong. doesn't mean he shouldn't be chastised for it for the remainder of his existence though

As a stat sheet stuffer, Davis > Howard.

As a proven winner and leader who can anchor the interior D of a contending team Howard > Davis. Davis is barley league average at defending shots at the rim.

For sure. When I think of Howard the first thing that comes to mind is "leader."

Look no further than the Rockets record to start the season to see his effect as a leader.

Houston is 0-2 in games when the leader hasn't played.
Houston is 8-1 in games when the leader has played.
