That's a terrific letter, but Chief Delmore is likely to be excoriated for equating young Michael Brown to Ted Bundy and Tim McVeigh.

Are we seeing the beginnings of racial divisions among the police?

I don't think that's what he was "equating" at all Rex. The mindset, not the individual. Brown, just like the examples used KNEW he was guilty of something. The officer didn't know that, just like the examples used.

And your words contributed to what happened Friday night and on into the wee hours of Saturday. According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, you said the following regarding the release of the video: “There was no need to release it,” Johnson said calling the reported theft and the killing entirely different events.

How convenient to blame someone else instead of the assholes who are terrorizing the city.

He's saying that his comments in regards to the release just increased the animosity. His 'hug a thug' approach also didn't work out so well.

Something truly sad about this situation... the crime rate in Ferguson was relatively low compared to its neighbor communities, per Senator McCaskill.

Was this shooting handled in the best manner possible? No... but by golly this is a small police force with no fancy PR department, just doing an exemplary job of keeping crime low in their town.

Some citizens of Ferguson deserve their wish: let the police force leave, altogether, and let them deal with their own security. They'll then be crying a different tune.

Of course it wasn't, but that won't keep others from saying so.

True, or maybe the residents of the town just aren't as thuggish as they're being portrayed. This was the first life taken there this year.

It's probably a combination of the two.

There's no doubt that the MAJORITY of the thugs are from out of town.

This is not their grandfather's America. We have a black man leading the country, and a black man who will lead the Federal investigation of this incident. It's disgraceful for people to automatically think this decorated police officer in the year 2014 would gun down a young black man for no reason except his race.

I agree with this. Obama, Holder and Ron Johnson are all Black. You can no longer blame "the man" in 2014.

Sadly, there is a segment of society (of all races) that refuse to accept this. I've had a long-running discussion going on over this on my FB page. A guy I grew up with (black) is adamant that any time there is a white v. black situation, it's *always* racism, add that they white is a cop and it's "white supremacy". Once a narrative has been set that a given event is racist, any facts that come out after that initial narrative are irrelevant. It's almost as if admitting they were wrong about a specific event somehow means they are saying racism doesn't exist or that racism is okay. There's just no room for reconsideration.

What some folks having a hard time grasping, is that some folks are just a**holes, and they would screw you over regardless of what race you are, but it's hard to get folks to abandon their default position that all misdeeds are racially motivated.

The guy is a police chief of a small suburban town. Yea, he probably has screwed up during this entire endeavor. In reality, I doubt he was ever trained to handle something this big.

It's easy to criticize sitting on the sidelines, but did the police chief do anything dishonest? Has he lied? Has he broken any rules or the law?

Look at all the other leaders involved in this mess. Obama, Jackson, Sharpton, the Mo. Governor, etc. and tell me who hasn't screwed up.
