I will be going to Ankara, Turkey next week and there is a high speed rail system that goes from Ankara to Istanbul. If anyone has been, any info on what to see/do?

Great great city. Go see the cistern room.

Yes and it's awesome. Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Grand Bazaar are typical things to tour. Spend some time on the Bosphorus, it's really pretty. I really enjoyed Istanbul when I went.
My grandma and I went together. She, her husband, my mom and my uncle used to live there when my mom was little, so we spent some time tracing down my mom's old school and places they used to go (everything has changed since back then).

You defecting?
At least a handful of American oil tycoons have found it very palatable to defect there.
Incredible tax haven, and a solid economy with proximity to middle eastern oil

Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, grand bazaar, hookah bar, taksim bars, there's a club with american karaoke music that gave me free drinks just for being american. That was fun.

Definitely pay for a guided tour that let's you skip the line for Hagia Sophia. When we walked up there must have been 300 people waiting to get in.

Yes.
It's where it all started. Recorded history, religion, agriculture, etc.

Topkapi Palace is also pretty interesting. There are some very good views of the city. Taksim Square and the neighborhood around it is nice.
My friends and I took the ferry across the Bosphorus to the Asian side. I would definitely recommend exploring that area too.
If you want to go off the beaten path, parts of the old wall that surrounded the city are still intact. I believe they are called the Theodosian Walls. There's no real "welcome site" or any central location to them, they're just there. We explored them and climbed up to the top. Definitely an interesting experience.

Imagine being the boss at that place back in the day. I can only imagine the shite going down over there.
Also, be prepared, not many people speak english outside of the tourist areas.

The call to prayer and all of the mosques were something new for me. I really enjoyed experiencing that and then going to Ephesus and the Virgin Mary's house and having a Catholic mass there. It was an amazing experience.
