It no longer has any weight under the new system right?

If so, what's the point of even having it? Journalists wanting to pretend they still are important?

I don't really see the point in any of the polls for that matter.

What is the point of any poll in any other NCAA sports?

Touché. Although I think the Coaches Poll still holds weight. But I could be wrong there. I know the committee will make their own 4 selections.

What's the point of having any poll?

It;s to give fans an idea of who is better than them and who they are better than...and to see which matchups coming up on tv are between good teams and which are not

IDK why anyone bitches about the AP and not the coaches...they all don't AFFECT anything but they improve the season experience

Does the Coaches have any bearing on the remaining bowls?

Thanks for agreeing with me but what I really meant was this:

To a degree it's the AP perpetuating its sense of self-importance. But it is also a gauge for casual fans. It's used to help create interest.

A drunk I am... A racist I am NOT..............

I like OSU this year.... I think they run the table. The schedule is the usual garbage....... Only the MSU game can be a concern...

I like the polls. The reason is if #1 goes down to #17 it has more excitement than that top contender went down to that decent team.

Under the new format polls should not decide a national champion.

The AP poll and the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll are both completely irrelevant.

The Committee poll is the only poll which will hold any weight.

Not irrelevant. It's a way to create excitement early on. Like week 1 having 4-5 games with two top 25 teams playing.

It hasn't meant a damn thing since 2004, after they pulled out of the BCS formula. The last 10 years the AP has had as much influence in determining the national champion as the WG_Dawg personal power poll. It will have even less say now.

This. They're not starting it until the end of October, which will help make a better poll.

No polls matter anymore, but they're still fun and a part of CFB. It'd suck to watch CFB and not see teams with their ranking next to their name anymore.

Yeah, I like having polls, whether or not they matter. It'd be really weird to not have them all of a sudden. They help give you an idea of how strong a team is, even if you haven't seen them play before.

1. The AP is the oldest and most prestigious poll.

2. The AP and coaches polls will NO DOUBT influence the committee. They are more relevant now than ever, especially with the computer rankings removed.
