A/C Professional - Trane Air Handler Install Questions
Posted on 8/17/14 at 5:26 pm

I recently had a new Trane A/C system installed. The wiring on the air handler was run over the seals causing cold air to leak out of the air handler. Should the thermostat wiring and overflow wiring been installed this way. See pictures below. TIA.

Silicone?
Was not used and I am not using. There is a rubber gasket that the wiring is going over.

call the installer
I want to know if it is correct before I call the company.

The wires should have been run through a knockout into the control panel. Eventually the stat wire insulation will rub through and cause issues.

That is what I was thinking.

Wait till their peak-season ends in September and have them come out.

They have to come out anyway. The city I live in required that a permit be pulled so they will be there with the inspector.

If that was done in Mandeville, I know what jack-leg did it.
Brister-Stephens sorted it out and I haven't had problems since.

No, I live in South Florida.

It's low voltage, the rubber grommet is fine. By the way, I have an idea, if it's getting inspected why not ask the inspector?
