At wits end with this damn thing, bought it about a month and a half ago to replace my craftsman I've had for 7 years and have had nothing but issues. Can someone recommend an easy feed head (where you just thread the pieces of string in) that fits. I've bought 2 at lowes and neither had the correct hardware to mate to it.

My echo 225 came with a speed feed head. You sure yours isnt?

Even says on the website that it comes standard on the srm 225

I have the speed feed head and I'm not overly impressed. I'm not terribly good at getting it to feed correctly. I want one where I can put the pre cut pieces of line in and go.

Some of the smaller echo trimmers come with the heads that use the 2 individual pieces. Check their website and see if those heads will fit on your model.

Those fricking suck. You've got to stop every 2 minutes to put new line in it.

You really can't figure out how to work the speed feed head? They made it for idiots who couldn't figure out the regular heads. Does that make you a double idiot?

I wasn't gonna say it, but yea. These threads crack me up. Speed feeds are idiot proof.

For some reason, I've just had really bad luck replacing the craftsman. Maybe I'll give the speed feed another go tomorrow, but the last time I fed it line....it didn't come out the other side. So I was cutting with one line.

Dude, Speed Feed is freaking awesome.... 'Almost' idiot proof... Don't buy the trimmer head with the precut pieces you' have to stop every time line breaks and fill it.

We sell 3 brands of trimmers and it seems like everyone is buying a Speed Feed for their trimmer no matter the brand!!

I bought the regular head because I can load it just as fast, but it holds more string. It was oddly $7 more expensive than the speed feed head

And do you know that the threads on the trimmer shaft are reversed?
