Yes, along with monitoring of their speeds while driving so that they are ticketed if they break the law when not an emergency.

Yes. Don't see a downside. Negligible cost, potentially huge benefit.

For rank and file uniformed Police, yes. Plain clothes and undercover, it's not really feasible.

Yes, but only if the video recording is tamper-proof from the officers wearing the camera.

I agree. It would be an enormous expense, but it would also save an enormous amount of time and money. And it would require officers to be on their best behavior at all times.

This is important. There should be fines or other punishments if the camera isn't turned on during an event.

Well, that part's not true. It would be a huge expense.

I hate to say it, but I believe most police officers got into that line of work because of their affection for guns. I'm not saying it necessarily applied to Officer Wilson or any other man in particular, but combine that affection with some need to play macho and I am certain that a fair share of them are itching for an execuse to fire.

let me add, as a person who has sued government agencies including policing agencies, there would likely be big cost savings, too

namely in insurance

That is an irresponsible statement.

I'm no big fan of cops but knowing what goes along with a line of duty shooting, I am 100% the last thing they want to do is have to use their service weapon.

Stop trying to turn this into a gun/anti-gun issue.

The guns are part of it, but you and everyone else knows that many of them go in for the position of power. The ability to lord over the rest of us is important to many of them, especially small town cops.

No one joins the police force because of their affection for guns. Even with the average LEO IQ, that makes no logical sense.

i think having the ability to control/command people is a bigger motivating factor than guns
