The work I've done on mine I watch a youtube video and it does a pretty good job of explaining step by step. I've done this for many projects on vehicles and around the house...

Replacing a dashboard is a major task. $600 isn't out of the ballpark. A but high but probably because a legit mechanic doesn't want to do it. Good luck getting everything hooked up and not ending up with major squeaks.

all I know is I need to disconnect the battery I know I have to remove wires (mark them with masking tape) but I have no fricking clue which wires and where they are located...can someone at least point me in the right direction?
I think you might want to find someone to do it for you! Maybe post this on the Outdoor Board and offer someone $300 to do it?

This forum is very helpful with this kind of stuff.

Are you parting out any things from the old dash? I am looking for the plastic piece that surround the radio and climate controls. I'd be willing to offer you a good price if you have the color I need!

I found the dash for $200 perfect condition, dealership listed it for $1300...I can give you the number and name of a salvage/repair place in Wyoming that is a treasure trove

man, I work on cars as a hobby and that is a hard task.
It's not impossible just tedious and time consuming.
I was looking at a 2004 4Runner the other day with a bad dash. I'm still thinking I should have got it. Trying to hold out for a 2003-06 landcruiser.

I'd love more info on that, you can email <@gmail.com
The part I need is the grey plastic piece that surrounds the radio, includes the middle air vents and surrounds the climate controls and storage box. See pic:
I have taken portions of my dash apart before, and just make sure you keep track of every single screw you take off! All of them serve a purpose and you will get all kinds of squeaks if you forget one or miss something.
Also, pull gently!

I am replacing the dashboard on my 2005 Toyota 4runner sr5.
well i can tell you a 3rd gen 4runner dash is insanely easy to remove. my wife has come in fussing at me for having my dash sitting on the kitchen table more times than i can count
i swapped all the indicator lights for LEDs a couple of times.
i'm not sure about the 4th gen..check the forums..probably a step-by-step there somewhere and/or a youtube.

emailing you now...they have one in salvage, I'll send you the pic and see if you can use it...if they send me an extra as part of the dash assembly, I'll send it your way.

I did it on a jeep grand cherokee by using a YouTube video for instructions. Check Google and YouTube.
