We've been to Disney a couple of times.
I went on one Carnival cruise and it was okay.

Pro- everything but the cost of the trip. Disney cruise is much nicer than Carnival, nicer than most cruise lines. There is adult only areas both including a pool area, but we found most adults were asleep before midnight. Disney island is really nice.

Pros :

No charge drink fountains on Lido deck and restaurants. More family orientated than Carnival and RCL. Better kids area. Also has adults only restaurants and outdoor area and spa.
Better designed staterooms than carnival, giving better use of space. Nice touches on interior.
Great Disney design and attention to detail.

Cons : Expensive, can be 3-4x the cost of CCL and 2x cost of RCL.
Lots of kids if that bothers you.
Not many, many people consider it one of the better lines.

I personally like Carnival because I'm cheap and it sails from NOLA.

Do people without kids go? Seems weird.

I went on the wonder, one of the older ships and it was fantastic. We all commented how the newer ones or the renovated ones must be amazing.

They have tons of programs for the kids, many kids dont even want to be around their parents. I have not been on the newer boats, but have a friend that is a travel agent on the side, they go every Mardi Gras.

I think it is really good for younger kids, characters are out all the time in different costumes. I had never been to the parks and went on the cruise. I didn't understand the lines you had to stand in at the parks to get pics...

Also look at the balcony rooms if you can afford it. The bathrooms are split, toilet and sink in one, shower and sink in the other. They also have a couch the converts to a bed for the kids.

The people i hear that talk so well of a Disney cruise usually mention the part about being away from their kids as the main reason to book it. Call me crazy, but when I'm on vaca with my kids, I want to enjoy them and be apart of their happiness. I'm just one of those weird moms though I guess.

NCL has a great itinery out of New Orleans. 7 day cruise and 4 of them are all day in different ports all of them are good locations with plenty to do.

And I guess that would be a con against Disney.

Disney would cost twice as much, plus airfare, and probably a hotel night as well.

I want my kids to be happy and have fun. If they want to be with me, or with other kids it matters not to me. I'm not pushing them away...

Yall have not listed the biggest Pro, Cast Away Kay. It is as close to paradise I have ever experienced. The family side is PACKED, but if you can go to the adults only side and leave the kids with a family member or sitter, you can enjoy steak and lobster for free.

We have been 3 times are are going on the 7 night lower Caribbean tour at Mardi Gras. I cannot wait.

Pros: great stage productions/musicals every night, not as many Wal-Mart customers on board, staff is unbelieveably friendly (after all it's Disney).

Cons: no casino on the boat we were on.

I thought I read bringing your own booze on board is ok.

Can anyone verify?

We went last year....thought it was great! ( especially when comparing it to RC and Carnival)

Big pro - you can bring on as much alcohol as you can carry (you can also buy alcohol at the ports you stop in and re-stock)

Don't book through Disney, you will get bigger discounts going through an independent travel agent.
