Dr. Kent Brantly, the American doctor infected with Ebola released a statement Friday afternoon— his first since being brought back to the U.S.

Brantly was working for humanitarian organization Samaritan’s Purse in West Africa, treating Ebola patients at a Liberia hospital when he contracted the deadly virus. On Saturday, August 2, he was flown to Emory University Hospital, where he has been in isolation while receiving care.

It's standard procedure to post "Red Rifle Called It." in every Ebola thread.

He made a thread about Ebola coming to America and everyone made fun of him. Then something else happened with Ebola and he made another thread saying he called it.

If nothing else, the one constant we can all look forward to is if red rifle says it will happen, it will happen. He's the anti-peej.

It's common for humans to cling tightly to their faith when facing imminent death.

was just reading that Guinea has closed its land borders with Liberia and Sierra Leone.

quote:

MONROVA, Liberia (AP) — Riot police raced to quell a demonstration blocking Liberia's busiest highway Saturday as an angry crowd protested the government's delays in collecting the bodies of Ebola victims.

In Guinea, where the deadly Ebola outbreak emerged in March, health officials announced Saturday that the country was closing its land borders with Liberia and Sierra Leone — two of the countries where the killer virus has now spread and where deaths are mounting.

The World Health Organization declared the Ebola outbreak an international health emergency Friday. The growing unease in Liberia, where nearly 300 people have died from the gruesome disease, raises the specter of social unrest.

Several bodies had been lying by the roadside for two days in the central town of Weala, 50 miles (75 kilometers) from the capital of Monrovia, and no government agency had picked them up, residents said.

The Ebola virus spreads through the bodily fluids of its victims and many in West Africa have fallen ill after touching or handling corpses. Liberia's government has ordered that all Ebola victims be cremated amid community opposition to neighborhood burials for fear of further contamination.

I heard it was common in rats too.. at least according to old lab studies in the 50s.

It's like a real life game of plague. Guess we need to spend some DNA points to evolve the bird 2 transmission gene. Spread baby spread!

While I'm not in agreement with his beliefs, I respect his right to believe in whatever he wants to. He's laid it on the line more than most. Tremendous respect for him and people like him.

The annoying thing is that people like him will lead to caution for actual risky outbreaks to be treated with scorn.
