Some of the comments remind me of AIDS in the 80s and how crazy people went with it and how they demonized those that had it.

People should take a good long look at what they are saying and just how ignorant they sound in regards to this.

that's just the chance you take nurse. You catch something from a patient? Oh well. Your fault. Should have gone into accounting.

The lack of compassion people have towards those that try to do good in this world and use their skills to help others makes me sad.

I realize it's driven by fear but still.

It's amazing how many people act like him coming back put us all at risk, while every expert who is asked is like "uh, it's really not a big deal or a threat at all."

I mean for fricks sake....he isn't in a hospital recovery bed down the hall from grandma.

BS-4 restrictions are crazy tight.

The biggest risk would be from a needle self-stick from a nurse.....and that IS why they probably are wearing latex gloves, then a thin kevlar layer and/or a steel mesh, and THEN a puncture resistant "spacesuit."

And I imagine there are protocols in place to test any staff that shows ANY symptom.

I mean....the flu you can spread around before you ever show symptoms. Ebola.....not the case.

Fear and misunderstanding. Luckily there are still a lot of people willing to take risks to help others.

I mean if one of us got sick in Nicaragua one year, I sure as hell am going to find a way back to the US asap. Doing anything else would be ludicrous.

They even said on the news that they had medical staff CANCEL their vacations so they could care for those 2 patients there.

And why have all these protocols and systems if we are too afraid to use them? Let's be grateful that we have something in place that is so high tech and safe.

Exactly.....I mean if they had such great medical care there.....why the hell are y'all going over there to help out in the first place then?

That would be like trying to say you are a medical missionary because you went and set up a tent clinic outside John Hopkins

Maybe God could have, you know, not allowed a completely pointless entity like ebola to arise in the first place. Or maybe in his omnipotence, he could have healed those affected without risking the lives of others who couldnt do much to save them anyway.

Heaven's upper level management really seems incredibly inept.

You'd probably know better than me, but being the son of an infection control nurse, I would think this type of situation would also provide valuable experience for us?

Exactly. That's why you have all these volunteering to care for them. There is so much they can learn from this. Knowledge that could hugely impact how it's treated.

It's not like they had all the high tech labs/equipment in Africa

I mean, I can accept useful bacteria like E.Coli, Klebsiella, etc. causing infections in some people but the Ebola virus serves no purpose other than to inflict illness and death. It has no useful purpose in any capacity.

Any God who just sits by and allows that kind of thing to happen is at best indifferent.

God is big on population control. I heard he was the dictator of North Korea.

Wrong. It serves a purpose. It's purpose is to test the species. To challenge it and force it to adapt and evolve based on the concept of survival of the fittest.

It serves a purpose.

They are also testing a new treatment, ZMapp I think, that has so far worked well. So it isn't like we aren't getting something out of this. I may not want this brought to our country, but I sure as hell would want to be treated here if I was infected. Also, we've got samples of this shite all over the place. We're in the same amount of danger we were before except the media is causing mass hysteria.

I was speaking in the context of judeo-christian belief, which rejects naturalistic evolution.
