Singer/songwriter/guitarist. Sort of the Tom Waits of New Orleans. Great lyricist. has a few albums out in his own name, plus has recorded with bands such as: The Tin Men (guitar, sousaphone, washboard), The Valpariso Men's Chorus (sea shanties - often bawdy) and Royal Finger Bowl. Guy is dam good. Tin Men play almost every Wed at 7pm at dba. Just check around the usual websites for his other shows. Here's a few songs:

I have that first Royal Fingerbowl record from the 90s... It always had a Tom Waits feel to it..
He is a talented songwriter in his many projects...

He was also in a ska band, 007. They issued two albums, but both are hard to find and have become collectors' items.

The first Royal Fingerbowl album (Happy Birthday, Sabo) is a desert island record for me. I can listen to that thing any day, all day.
Side note, about 8 years ago or thereabouts, I was corresponding with McMurray through email. I basically told him i'd mail him a check for whatever amount and asked him to pick a few CD's to send me. He mailed me back some CD's with a hand-written note congratulating me on receiving the first Valparaiso Men's Chorus CD off the presses. I thought it was pretty cool.
Can't beat the line, "So how's about it, Trudy? Have I broken you/Of hangin' at the Popeye's on St. Bernard Avenue?"

If you haven't done so get the 2nd Valpariso album, The Straits of St. Claude. Better than the first, IMHO.

Is that his "sea shanties" band?
