The NCAA Division I board of directors on Thursday voted to allow the 65 schools in the top five conferences to write many of their own rules. The autonomy measures -- which the power conferences had all but demanded -- will permit those leagues to decide on things such as cost-of-attendance stipends and insurance benefits for players, staff sizes, recruiting rules and mandatory hours spent on individual sports.

Just heard on College football live that it will be ok to pay players for likeness! This is huge for the NCAA gaming fans! We will get our game back!!!

You are assuming that EA or any other company would actually WANT to spend the money to pay players.

They could make random players and put them in a game or they could give every player a free copy of the game or something like that.

There is loopholes

EA already said they wouldn't mind paying the players, if it meant they could continue making the game

95% of players would rather be in the game and not be paid then the game to stop existing. They get excited about the prospect of seeing themselves in a video game.

This looks like it would end up being a huge mess. Who is the the one that dictates how much players get paid? I envision unionizing etc.

Would someone like Jameis Winston get paid the same amount as someone like Conner Neighbors? Will the players be able to negotiate their compensation?

I would think that they would have a set amount to pay players, and it probably wouldn't be much. Like I said tell players that they get a free game, or 65$ cash, or they can totally go around giving them anything and just put random players on the game the choice would be up to a players union of some sort...

they could offer this for their name and likeness and then if the player says no they are replaced by a completely fictional player (who could be edited)
