Coulter led her comments with the controversial headline “Ebola doc’s condition downgraded to ‘idiotic.’ ”

The conservative pundit suggested the doctor invited the risk of catching Ebola by traveling to Africa and that missionaries preferred to help those overseas rather than the needy at home because they wanted to be seen as “heroic.”

“Why did Dr. Brantly have to go to Africa? The very first ‘risk factor’ listed by the Mayo Clinic for Ebola — an incurable disease with a 90 percent fatality rate — is: ‘Travel to Africa,’ ” said Coulter. “Can’t anyone serve Christ in America anymore?”

There was some debate two weeks ago about whether she or Laura Ingraham was worse.

I'll say I won that debate. What a pig.

Ann Coulter needs to be disavowed by the Right. She has nothing to say. She should not be listened to. She is a crazy person.

That article was pathetic.

As she gets older and less attractive, she loses staying power. Early on, she could be a fairly pretty blonde that said almost anything and Republican men would fall all over themselves to agree with her and have her on their shows.

That doesn't happen as much now, and it's been really clear in the last few years that she's just trying to be the shrillest voice in the room and reminding smart people of why they've never listened to her.

Sad, really. But I love it.

She is wrong in this case, but she does have a bit of a point. We do not have a lack of poor people here that desperately could use help of this nature.

She is obnoxious and annoying. I'm a republican, but I can't stand to hear her talk. And, IMO, her comments are "idiotic".

I'm not understanding the butthurt over the article. Yes she can be polarizing but as you are aware her point was "hey we need some Christian stuff going on right here in America, so stay, don't get a deadly disease & don't spend your charity's money on Gulfstream medevac flights." Fair summation?

That's a stupid opinion. And saying it in such an asinine way really defeats any cogent point she was attempting to make.

No. We have PLENTY of Christian stuff going on here in America. Look at how churches from all over the country responded after Katrina. Could we have more? You bet. But, doing some stuff to help those in need overseas does not negate the massive amount of work being done here.

Her point is that Christians should stay home and NOT get involved in Africa while there are still needs here. Of course, that is a horrible view.

If Dr. Brantly had practiced at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles and turned one single Hollywood power-broker to Christ, he would have done more good for the entire world than anything he could accomplish in a century spent in Liberia

You don't evangelize based upon the value of the person to your religion. You evangelize based upon the intrinsic value of the person to whom you are ministering.

quote:

Not only that, but it's our country. Your country is like your family. We're supposed to take care of our own first. The same Bible that commands us to "go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel" also says: "For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, 'You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.'"

The Great Commission is the message of Christ to the disciples. Go to all the world. So her stunted interpretation of that is theologically incorrect and ethically questionable.

Really can't be bothered to explain. If you think the missionaries and doctors in Africa are there so they can be seen as heroic, you're just an idiot and I can't help.

I've often wondered the same thing. We Christians send missionaries aroung the world yet you can barely get any support for Christian schools here.
