everybody talks about LSU's ag, eng, and business schools. How important are the sciences, ie bio, chem, geo, phys?

Are they self sustaining or profitable?

probably a bunch. It's that way at most universities, everyone wants to be a doctor but it's hard to make the grades to get in if you want to party.

Quick answer, depends on the professor and students. Most of the professors in the chem dept are pretty motivated so they're constantly writing proposals and applying for funding. My group just got a $1,000,000 grant in May so I'd say that's pretty good. I've talked with grad students in the other departments you mentioned and it seems like they're doing ok
