Don't they steal enough of our money already? How much do they really need?

I mean, they have access to printed money from the Federal Reserve, they have the power to take our labor from us in hundreds of different ways through income taxes, excise taxes, fees, permits, etc. When is enough enough.

The federal government is so damn greedy.

I know, right. We should eliminate unnecessary spending. Let's start with the bloated military budget.

This isn't quite the gotcha you are hoping for. Most here support that. Along with cuts to everything else. Why do you want to limit it to just military?

Who is making this assumption? Anyone with 10 operating brain cells would never make this assumption.

i'd imagine at least half of military spending is nothing more than wealth redistribution, crony capitalism, and political pandering to constituents

Sorry, I didn't see it. However I ask myself the same question every time Obama gets on his class warfare kick. Of course the only way to solve class inequality to to tax the "rich" more so the greedy federal government can supposedly have more tax revenue. That's assuming that the "rich" don't GTFO of this country or find some other means of avoiding the federal government's greed.

I believe the simpletons who appropriate and distribute our money realize they aren’t particularly adroit at performing this task and thus require a great deal of do over funds.

Well apparently there is a huge contingent of voters with less than 10 brain cells. Have you ever heard Obama refer to the greedy federal government or any politician for that matter? It's always the greedy corporations; the greedy "rich".

But it's never the greedy federal government whom BTW has total access to the Federal Reserve printing press and assess to your labor through tax laws. What companies and workers have that kind of leverage?

Exactly. Politicians like to portray themselves as being altruistic and more generous than the 'fat cat' CEOs when time after time its shown that they are at least as greedy, corrupt and selfish (if not more) than any businessperson.

Except in reality they are in it for the money. Robin Hood never got rich from stealing from the rich. However our politicians do because they are greedy.

I don't assume that.

Those that do assume this (and assume that a desire to keep more of the money you have earned IS greedy) believe that all money/wealth is actually the government's, and you should be happy with what you get.

The government is made up of people. So it's no more or less greedy than the average person, just full of people who can work the system to their advantage. As long as Capitalism is our system, there's going to be governemnt corruption and cronyism.

The bigger problem with government is large organizations are inherently inefficient. The Federal Government is just happens to be the biggest organization in the game.
