I know jack shite about handguns, but I have a Judge that I want to take as bear protection while fly fishing next month. I know it is not nearly enough gun to stop even a cub, but I'm not here for that and I'm not buying another gun.

Please recommend me a shoulder holster I can wear comfortably whilst fly fishing. TIA

for your troubles since I know you gun guys like this kinda shite:

Pro Carry Belt Ride Ranch Series. Should be able to find it on Amazon.

Where are you going fly fishing?

Has anyone mentioned that you need a better gun to stop a bear ?

then why go through the trouble to carry it?

Eta I would think a belt holster near the back hip would make more sense when fly fishing but that's just me

In all seriousness, you may just piss that bear off something fierce if you don't put it down first shot

I was being sarcastic. I figured if get lots of replies like that. I'm open to other suggestions but I'll be wearing waders. Wouldn't that negate a hip holster?

Is a .45 not enough to stop a bear?? Thing is loud enough to scare it huh?

Eta: I'm going to Montana. Yellowstone/big sky

If you can reach back and slip your your hand into your waders, you should be good. I don't know how high the waders come up.

Guides typically use 45-70's for bear guns.

Eta I'm jealous

I really like the look of "Simply Rugged" Holsters as they bear a strong resemblance to the original "pancake" holster made by Roy Baker from the early 70's. Maybe they could make you a non-scoped version of this Chest Holster.

Surely a .45 LC could stop a bear.

I would think so but it's being shot from a judge, so there's that.
