Saw this earlier today. Back it up with evidence from the actual book and I'll believe it.

Certainly is plausible, i've always just assumed they didn't take the eagles because it just wouldn't wouldn't work between the Eye and Nazguls

That is some serious leap in logic.

The movie was boring enough. I'm not going to read all that shite.

It's not a plot hole. The eagles aren't mindless beasts for Gandalf to order around, they are highly intelligent beings whom aren't concerned with the affairs of mortals.

Reading the additional Tolkien works would give these "plot hole" folks some enlightenment.

Yeah, the Nazgul and Sauron would destroy them. I still think Sauron's gaze was powerful enough alone to kill someone, and the Nazgul were there for safe measure.

Multiple people think this? It's very clearly "fly you fools". Plenty of references to it in pop culture indicate it, and I'm sure I remember reading that line in the books.

Just rewatched it, and he clearly says fly. Doesn't have a single letter in common, so I don't know where this confusion is stemming from.

Fly you fools
from the comments section

quote:

He says, "Fly, you fools!" Turning on the closed captions or subtitles reveals the line, which is also in the book. In older English, "fly" is an imperative version (meaning, when you're ordering someone to do something) of the word "flee". During the original theatrical release, Gandalf's line was modernized to "Run, you fools!" However, when the DVD was released, the line was changed to more faithfully reflect the novel.''
