A buddy found this baby hog on a pipeline while working. They tried to find the Sow (AKA- Mamma Hog)but never could find her to return the baby, so I voluntered to fatten him up. From what I can find, I think he's about 2 weeks old. I've been feeding him a milk mix I got from the feed store out of a bowl, he doesn't like the bottle.

Has anyone raised a pig this size?

How old does the OB think he is?

When can I go to solid food?

His name is Bacon

Should be interesting project for your son..

If you are going to keep him for any period of time you may want to have his teeth cut.

Sorry can't help with much more than that.

First I would say low heat for about 3 hours and you will have tender eating...

Second at some point over the next 4 weeks you need to worm it. Need to worm a few times as it grows.

I haven't raised one that small, if it's eating now you are doing fine, just remember they start to smell like pigs pretty quick if you have to keep them close to the house the wife won't be happy in a few weeks or so.

Tried to tame one we caught few months ago. Was a bit older than that one, though. Got tired of caring for it, didn't grow as fast as I expected ( was feeding it 12% sweet feed). Gave it away.

1st, thanks for cutting your boy's hair like a real boy. Too many 5 yr-old Justin Beavers walking around.

2nd, pigs will survive. Just feed him your leftovers from the dinner table and he'll be just fine. Start him on grains when he gets a little bigger.

3rd, you sure it's a "HE"? You keep saying "he" like it's a Board. Might be a Sal. If it's a Board, cut his nuts off today.

Def a male. I was gonna wait a few weeks to cut him. I've never done it before, my uncle said he would give me a hand doing it when I was ready. Might cut'em this weekend.

Never thought about getting his teeth cut TT, gonna look into that.

Dahammer, gonna get him wormed. Thanks

Pro Tip #429 from Tenfoe: When castrating pigs, there is no such thing as "too much" ear protection.

Feed it as you are now seems right. Some vet bills and sentimental attachment later and you will have a big stinky hawg/slop area/pigshit sty. Sorry, just trying to help now for what's coming.

It is cute though!
