I remember a small but vocal number of people being upset he was cast in Thor.
The argument was basically "Why did Hollywood have to be so PC and make the fictional movie character based on a comic book inspired by Norse mythology a black guy"
I could certainly see him as Bond.

Anyway, in the UK for the most part, black people are just other dudes you run into. It wouldn't be crazy for him to be 007, and he'd be really, really unexpected as an agent of MI6 by the crazy cool bad guy.

I'll have to look on Youtube but isn't his normal accent more "Cockney" than "Bond/royal"?
He does a great American, though.

No, it is more inner city London. Linguistics have no dubbed it MLE (Multi-cultural London English) which is a blend of Cockney, South Asian, and West Indian dialects.
I don't see how it would be a problem though. The actors that have portrayed Bond have ranged from a Scot to an Irishmen to English. Elba is a talented voice actor as well.

James Bond is an alias, not an actual person, so why not. But I think Craig has a few movies left and he's been pretty great. I think Elba would be a pretty great Bond.
