Because the Cowboys were successful when the Saints sucked.

Also much of western Louisiana shows Cowboys games.

For decades, the Saints were completely terrible, the Cowboys were dominant, and they Cowboys were the only team in Texas. Also, many parts of the state in the North and West (aka Shreveport) are closer to Dallas than they are to New Orleans both distance wise and culturally.

Shreveport voted to show Saints games over Cowboys games on Fox.

North LA didnt start showing Saints games until around 2010. So anyone over the age of around 18 grew up watching Cowboys games. They are also closer to Dallas. So it makes sense for them to be cowboys fans

Geographic proximity mostly. Plus some lingering bandwagoners from the 90s.

Bandwagoners who I would point and laugh at now after every 8-8 season.

shite, back in 1996 I was up in Shreveport during the first weekend of the NFL season. It was a task to find a place to watch the Saints game.

The bandwagoners are actually the Saints fans from North La, not the Cowboys fans

Cowboys always good ('till recently)

Saints always bad ('till recently)

north Louisiana has always been Cowboys territory, esp. the I-20 corridor

But there are Cowboys fans everywhere in Louisiana- sorta like all over the US- they were good for so long, and claimed to be "America's Team" and were always on national tv.

I have no problem with anyone from north Louisiana being a Cowboys fan- but people from south of Alex should be Saints fans!
