This was mixed in with a bunch of vintage M1 Carbine/M1 Garand parts I found in an abandoned storage unit but I can't seem to identify it from the takedown diagrams. No marks or stamps so probably just some cheap commercial piece. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just looked thru a bunch of schematics online for both the Carbine and Garand and at Brownells for a M1A (just in case)...and can't see anything that looks like that. Funny thing is..I think I've seen something like that before...but I don't own an M1...I'm thinking part of a shotgun or something...I reserve the right to be wrong.

Weirdest damn thing. I swear I've seen it before too. Literally every other part out of like 50 were 90% M1 Carbine and 10% M1 Garand.

Yeah i have a M1 garand and a carbine and that definitely does not go to either. Looks almost like that piece would pivot on the pin sticking out.

ETA: if it is vintage like the other parts it could possibly go to some WW2 era machine gun???

The arm sticking up does pivot. I'll post more detailed picture.

Looks like it's from an M2 Carbine:

Damn maroon nice find. That seems to be the selector lever for a M2 carbine. The OP needs to be careful that the other parts to complete the group are not in there.... But if you don't own a M1 carbine you would be fine. no constructive intent there

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.

After further research it is a disconnector lever for an M1/M2 Carbine for some sort of conversion.
