My dlink WiFi router died last night. It was over 10 years old so it was probably time for a new one. Did a little research online last night and have decided to get to Best Buy after work and pick up this one:

Asus Router

Is this a good choice? Just 2 of us living here. Don't need a huge range and wanted to try and keep it under $100.

It's fine for what you need. You probably could find cheaper ones but then you start throwing life span out the window

Is there something better I should get?

No. You could probably get away with less. If your d-link was 10 years old, I'm guessing it was 802.11g. What devices are on your network?

A Roku, 2 laptops(usually just one on wifi at a time) and 2 google Nexus phones. Roku is almost Ajay's in use when we're home and we're both usually playing on our phones(TD etc). So nothing extreme.

Picked up that Asus at Fry's last night (BB doesn't have it in stores). Set up took about 10mins and it's working infinitely better than that 10 yr old d link. I was streaming Hbotogo, YouTube on my phone, and a movie on the gf's laptop. No buffering at all on any of the devices. And we don't have the fastest internet with Time Warner at all. Very happy with its performance. Plus it looks pretty bad arse.

How's the range on that one? Reviews say not so great but what does that really mean? As long as it covers a 2000 sq ft home, I'm good.

I'm in a 1800 sq ft and the range is fine for me. I get great signal in all of my rooms and in the yard.

I've been using an Apple Airport Express base station for 5 years and it has been rock solid reliable. Very easy to set up as well.

Ubiquiti

I hear Ubiquiti router's range and dependability is excellent. I'm considering buying it. An IT guy for a big company told me about them

$40 Office Depot/Best Buy Netgear WNR2000.

Beats the crappy Linksys and Dlinks I've gone through.

OP bought a router 2 days ago. Luckily he went with his first choice instead of listening to the misconceptions about 802.11AC.
