My dog is 6 months old. 60 lbs. He is still a pup and we are training him and getting better. No jumping anymore etc.

Been using the Downshift method. It's been working.

Tonight he jumped on the couch and Mrs House and baby girl. I smacked him and he jumped and hit the coffee table. He's got a knot above an eye. That head is hard. Didn't yelp. Came back for more.

Wife is pissed.

Can I just love him and make him listen????

Pics.

Don't put this on the OT or they will call PETA.

Those dogs are built tough. They deserve knots on their heads sometimes.

Easy solution. Next time the dog jumps on the sofa, knock your wife on the head

Get you a squirt bottle and a 20 oz bottle with a bunch of pennies in it. When he jumps on the couch chase him while shaking the penny bottle and squirtinf with the water. They fricking hate it and it will break him quick.

Don't worry about the bump, just part of the learning curve

Good looking dog, what kind is he?

Merican bull dog and mastiff. I saw the parents. He's a good dog. My wife just wants to treat him like our last dog - beagle.

Doesn't work.

Women are ridiculous when it comes to dogs. Some sorostitute called the campus police on me one night. I had driven to the fraternity house to pick up some notes and talk it over briefly with a buddy. Dog was acting like a typical locked up puppy (this was during finals week) so I stuck him in the kennel in the bed of my pick up. When I came back out 20 minutes later my truck was surrounded by 3 cop cars that had gotten a call about a dog crying because it was too cold. The girl had put a towel over the kennel and wrote a not that said dogs have feelings too. I told the officers if my Chesapeake was cold at 55 degrees and dry we had bigger problems to worry about.

American Bulldogs and Mastiffs were bred to take down; cattle(hence the name "bulldog"), wild boars, bears, and other large game. A bump on the head from getting pushed of the couch won't hurt him. People have forgotten that dogs like these were bred to be tough, and treat them like 100 lb porcelain chihuahuas.

My gf overreacts about me disciplining our lab you'd think Id beat it to death. I rarely have to hit our lab and when I do it's not even that hard.
