RCP average shows him at -13.5, which is only slightly better than Bush levels at this time.

For some reason, the economic recovery (which has been happening for over a year, really) is not helping the president. I think it's because it has taken so long, that reasonable Americans know it is happening in spite of him, or simply he has nothing to do with it.

I still can't fathom the mindset of the 39% that actually approve of a POTUS that hasn't accomplished a damn thing in 5 1/2 years.

It's because many people have been brainwashed to think that the numbers have been fixed and there is no recovery. Oh, and ObamaCare has death panels.

ummm, that accounts for those on the far right, but are you claiming Gallup, RCP, rasmussen, etc only poll far right?

His approvals are down across the board.

It should be single digits. There aren't but a handful in the House I'd give a nod too and less in the senate.

39% favorable for obama is shockingly high. How can anyone believe we're heading in the right direction under his leadership?

Yep.
All those folks who had to drop out of the workforce, they're all brainwashed.
All those US multinationals succumbing to attraction of inversions based on idiotic tax policy, they're all brainwashed.
All those twenty-somethings who've never found a decent job out of college, they're all brainwashed.

What? Presidents rarely fall below 35%. Bush at his worst hovered around that. Are you aware that around 43% of Americans are democrats?

I wonder what it would be if the media wasn't covering for him...

And they can't possibly disapprove of obama's performance?

Obviously 10% do.

Considering the antithetical nature of MSM coverage for Bush vs Obama, I find similarities of their Gallup numbers amazing.

That way too high. Its likely closer to 30%

Edit: Here's a 2010 Gallup poll

As of 2010 [update], Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrats (tying a 22-year low), 29% as Republicans, and 38% as independents. By 2011, Gallup found that Americans identifying as independents had risen to 40 percent.

31% are registered demcrats, and then there are the "indpendents" who always vote D.

Once you factor in those, 39% becomes understandable, no matter how bad this shitshow presidency gets.
