Six vehicles full of DHS agents were required to seize a Land Rover from a couple in Statesville, N.C. due to the fact that the vehicle allegedly violates EPA emission standards.

quote:

Jennifer and Bill Brinkley were satisfied that their $60,000 dollar purchase of a Land Rover Defender on eBay complied with regulations because it fell into the exemption category of a vehicle 25 years or older. However, when DHS agents turned up at the property, they compared the car’s Vehicle Identification Number to a list and immediately seized the Land Rover. The couple were not given “a chance to debate the issue.” WBTV’s Steve Ohnesorge said DHS agents conducted “almost like a raid to get the car.”

in other news, while homeland security is crawling around the engine block of this couple's car looking for a VIN number that might not match, thousands of mexicans are pouring across the border.

It'snot like the POS is gonna run long enough to emit much pollution, anyway.

In another incident, the DHS conducted a military-style invasion of a small town in Illinois complete with armored vehicles, a Black Hawk helicopter and a phalanx of heavy duty equipment and weaponry. It subsequently emerged that the reason behind the show of force – which spooked locals – was to apprehend one man for downloading indecent images on his computer.

they did the same thing to the Nissan Slyvia and Skyline owners.

took their cars and crushed them.

I really want a Pinz one day, but would hate for this to happen.

the equivalent of BR cops setting up tag inspection checkpoints in middle class subdivisions while shootings, rapes and broad daylight drug deals take place in the projects.

wtf man. an upper middle class couple who paid $65,000 for a collectible auto ain't gonna give you ebola or sue you for tackling them after they swim across the rio grande. homeland looking out for their peeps!

its safe and you can go get donuts & coffee with the crew after you've spent the afternoon taking the defender off road at the fed impound facility.

what gets me is they go after old as cars. but old cars ALL had little to no pollution control.

Also, small planes still to this day use Leaded gas. 100LL has lead in it, so those propeller planes overhead? Spraying lead everywhere.

No, nothing to do with EPA, just the amount of time they spend in the shop.

I learned never to again buy old British crap after I got a Jaguar as a fixer project.

Want to change the rear brakes? Well they aren't on the rear wheels, they are on the differential.

???

And that was just one quirk.
