Would you consider posting on OT as being a hobby?

Think about the amount of time you spend here vs. other things that you do for "recreation".

I would say yes.

Hmm I guess

I spend at least an hour here a day. Some days much more.

Going to make it more of a lurking on TD more than posting.

No because I only spend time on here at work. A hobby is something you do in your spare time. I never log on at home.

I typically get on while at work. So I consider it a full time job.

I sometimes wonder how I passed the workday prior to finding the OT. However, I can say the same thing about Tetris and Solitaire. Since I don't do either three on my own time or for recreational purposes I don't consider them a hobby.

I look it as a form of civic engagement and building social capital.

More like a 9-5 for me.

They do say that you should love what you do though, so I guess I'm good to go

If it is a hobby, then it's the most wasteful hobby one can have.

Why do people bitch about TD.com/internet forums?

All it is is a place to have conversations.

How is that a waste of time? If I'm stuck at my desk all day working, is it more anti-social of me to stare at a screen for 8 hours, or have convos on the side with interwebz people?
