What are some of the issues they are facing with these movies?

The author couldn't figure out a decent way to make katniss relevant beyond being a symbol for the rebellion. Her quest was pointless and a waste pages

I agree. The ending was really disappointing. It felt rushed and made no sense.

I enjoyed the book more than the other two. I am the only person apparently.

Katniss is a whiny bitch the entire series. I hate Katniss Everdeen.

I know she's hot, but Peeta should have kicked that unappreciative bitch to the side

Peeta's character went to shite with that brainwashing theme. It seems as though the writer had no idea how to end the story. Just a poorly written end to an okay story.

the fact that it is movieS instead of movie.

the fact that they are splitting the book with the least content into two films.

it will be hard to make anyone care when Prim dies. just like the book, i really didn't care about prim and just was like "umm, ok" when they killed her.

I just don't see the scene of them running through the capitol with multiple (and weird) traps being spread about.

It's been years since I read it but I remember not liking the last book.

My main problem, is there are essentially 2 main characters. And the last book eliminates one of them for the majority of the time. Youll probably get a lot of Peeta time while he was at the capitol that wasnt in the book.

I'm just thankful that she decided to end the series at 3, and not go the 5-8 money machine book route. I can respect that. Plus I thought the ending chapter was pretty good.

you serious?

Peeta can't look at her right, and katniss never wanted to bring kids into a world this messed up.

oh, but in 1 paragraph they get married and have kids... sorry Gale.

This. It's been a while since I read the book, but the way she rushed the last book was a disgrace to the series.

I felt like she wrote the first 2.5 books with the idea that Katniss would end up with Gale, and then changed her mind about halfway through Mockingjay, but didn't really know how to make it happen.

Exactly, we didn't even get to see the rebellion either, just Katniss doing nothing

One thing I have enjoyed about the movies is they have introduced us to the POV other than Katniss- things that were not included in the book (ie in the second movie they show President Snow's granddaughter wearing her hair in the Katniss braid because "all the girls at school are doing it"). I think there's a lot of potential for the Mockingjay movies to make for a stronger story than the final book did.

I hated that Katniss ends up with Peeta. It basically felt like when Gale moved to another district after the rebellion, Peeta was just sort of there and she ended up with him by default.

The main issue they are facing is how to make a crappy book into a good movie.

If Collins does not have issues with it, they can make a really good movie(s) by using the book as a starting point only. Mockingjay was a tough read.

Exactly. Mockingjay was terrible and IMO only needs one movie...but since every last movie in a series now has 2 parts (thanks to HP and Twilight) to milk every penny, no surprise that Hunger Games followed suit. Fwiw it's been 3 years since I've read any of the books.

I'll go see it in theaters but hopefully they've been able to improve on the original source material.
